Believable Communicating Agents Siggraph ‘96 Course Notes

چکیده

Introduction In today’s tutorial, we are discussing aspects of communication -and of building communicating agents -as diverse as the expression of emotion, the perception of intentionality, and the role of aesthetics. My particular vision of things concerns the integration of verbal and nonverbal behaviors in communicating agents. I believe that it is interesting, important, and achievable to build communicating agents that display (and understand; see Cassell, forthcoming) the full range of speech and non-speech devices to communicate with users. And, further, I believe that agents that display these behaviors appear to have communicative intentions and, as such, are more believable.
